Lincoln Tech first opened its doors in 1946 and presently occupies 40 acres in Hartford County, Connecticut. This institute is now one of the nation’s leading providers of career training and technical skills and has two facilities located at 97 Newberry Rd, East Windsor, CT and 8 Progress Dr. Shelton, CT. NuWave conducted an energy audit at both Lincoln Tech locations to verify and analyze the current lighting equipment. The NuWave development team reviewed the survey data and recommended numerous project solutions to meet the demands of the facility.
COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION
The NuWave team assessed the facilities and upgraded every single LED fixture on the sites, in addition to office space and shop area upgrades. This included lights both inside and outside the buildings. New LED lighting in the shop and office spaces not only lowered total energy usage, but also enhanced the safety and appearance of the facility for the employees and students. The project also features a new networked lighting management system with sensors for occupancy monitoring, task tuning, daylight harvesting, and dimming. NuWave identified many energy-saving improvements that were eligible for utility incentives.

THE IMPACT
-
- LED Lighting upgrades were made to the interior and exterior of both facilities, shop area and office spaces.
- Among other operational and energy system improvements, these facilities achieved more consistent lighting color temperature and a considerable decrease in necessary lighting maintenance.
- This organization has cut energy and maintenance expenses while also creating a better working environment by switching to an LED lighting system.
- The reduction in carbon footprint is equivalent to 2,145,000 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle.
